Net Hack is one of the most effective video games for using only ACSII characters to draw maps and monsters. Extra points for anyone who remembers Larn and a million points if you ever played Moria. + another million if you uploaded it to a BBS to get credit for five more downloads.

I won without cheating, though I did copy my save files into new directories to avoid dying.

Comment by Allen 03.28.05 @ 7:09 pmDying out of nowhere can be the most off-putting part of Nethack. When it happens in under ten seconds it can really put your own life in persepective. I randomized a character, a human female knight named Gruntface. She died when I tried to mount her pet pony at the start of the game. RIP Gruntface.
